⭐ "It means a lot knowing that such a small school can make such a big difference."⭐ See a little bit of behind the scenes as Cherry High School's Youth in Action students go shopping for hygiene supplies using the money they raised in a penny war fundraiser at their school. Thank you to WDIO news for being there to cover this heartwarming story. Way to go, Cherry Tigers! We are so proud of your hard work!

🎉 What a night! Huge thanks to Hello Range and the Hibbing Tourist & Senior Center for hosting an unforgettable evening! 🙌 We shared a delicious dinner of sarmas and pasties, listened to tunes from every decade, and played a lively round of Kahoot—hosted by our awesome YIA Advisor, Lynda Larsen! 💃🎶📱 The best part? Hibbing Youth in Action students teamed up with guests from different generations to boost their trivia skills and connect across the decades. 🧠👥💥 Grateful for the laughs, the learning, and the community spirit. Can't wait for the next one! 💛 #YouthInAction #HelloRange #CommunityConnection #IntergenerationalFun #hibbingschools

Our Mountain Iron-Buhl Youth in Action group recently spent the day volunteering at Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency's Senior Expo in Eveleth. YIA welcomed folks, handed out a bag and a map, refilled beverages, helped push people in wheelchairs, and served and cleaned up after lunch. The intergenerational connections were so cool to see, and many attendees commented on how wonderful our YIA volunteers were! We are excited to return again next year!

Last week, Mesabi East Youth in Action put on our annual Cardboard Box City event. Students built houses out of cardboard in order to help raise awareness about housing instability in our communities. St. Louis County Housing and Homelessness staff spoke with students about ways in which our community is impacted, as well as what resources are available. Students ended the busy day with a service project stuffing build-a-bear toys to donate to the children's hospital. It was a day full of advocacy, education, and service. Thank you to Stacey Jasperson, our Mesabi East YIA advisor, for all her hard work in hosting this event.

What is YIA?

Youth in Action (or YIA) is a St. Louis County program that promotes students getting involved in school and community projects that make a positive impact.

Youth in Action  opportunities are available on the Iron Range for students in grades 7-12 and in the Duluth area schools for students in grades 9-12. It is free to join and everybody is welcome!

Our MISSION is to maintain and support youth development and community programs and projects. We work to promote public service values to better engage young adults with their  communities. Our goal is to bring positive change to St. Louis County through partnerships with students, schools, community organizations and businesses and our in-school advisors.
