Youth in action (YIA) promotes youth leadership to its highest level and asks youth to make a difference in the lives of others.

What is YIA?

Youth in Action (or YIA) is a St. Louis County program that promotes leadership by getting students involved in school and community projects that make a positive impact.

Youth in Action opportunities are available in Iron Range and Duluth area schools for students in grades 9-12. It is free to join and everybody is welcome!

Our MISSION is to maintain and support youth development and community programs and projects. We work to promote public service values to better engage young adults with their communities. Our goal is to bring positive change to St. Louis County through partnerships with students, schools, community organizations and businesses and our in-school advisors.

Social Media announcement

A message from Youth in Action Coordinators:

These past few months have been a whirlwind for our communities within St. Louis County. Youth in Action is all about service. Engaging young people to make St. Louis County a better place to live. How do we provide service and add value to our community when we’re supposed to social distance? For an organization that works hard to bring young people together, what do we do now?

Kyle Willkom spoke at our 2020 YIA Make a Difference Conference. For those that couldn’t attend, we’ll give you a refresher. He said the same old thinking is going to get us the same old results. WELL right now we can’t do our same old thinking – we truly have to think outside the box. We have to be the HERO: Help, Engage, Respond & Own Our Power. Kyle challenged us to make one positive difference every day in the life of someone else. Remember the writing across our foreheads? “Make me feel important”. This is exactly what YIA is going to do.

Our mission remains the same to maintain and support young people. We challenge you to be the HERO.

We encourage you to stay connected with Tyler, Angela, Taryn & Elise.

We want to hear from you.

We cannot emphasize this enough.

We are here for YOU!

Registration is now open!

We'll be hosting our annual Make a Difference Conference: Body, Mind & Soul virtually this year! Three evenings, 6 PM - 8 PM, starting Sunday, February 21st. We're working hard to make this a valuable, virtual event for young people!

The conference is free and open to all youth grades 7th - 12th within St. Louis County. If you haven't been involved with YIA before, you are welcome to attend!

We will host the event on Zoom. All attendees must register using this link:
